Shifaz resigned from his position as vice president of The Democrats on Saturday

Mohamed “Shippe” Shifaz has resigned from the position of Vice President of ‘The Democrats’.

Shifaz resigned from his position as vice president of The Democrats on Saturday afternoon.

Confirming this, Shifaz revealed that he decided to resign from the position of Vice President of The Democrats because he wants to pursue political activities on a broader scale than the political work he had been doing while in the party.

At a time there has been reports that Shifaz has signed for the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), RaajjeMV has clarified from Shifaz if he had signed for the MDP. Shifaz confirmed that he has not signed for the party yet.

While Shifaz has resigned from the position of vice president at The Democrats, Shifaz previously worked very prominently in the main opposition party, MDP. In that capacity, Shifaz served as the vice president of MDP.

In addition to this, Shifaz has also served as a Member of Parliament for Baarah constituency. In the former administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, Shifaz served as the Minister at the President's Office as well. He was dismissed from the position at the time when MDP split into two factions.

After that, Shifaz worked very prominently in the formation of The Democrats.
