Five people have been injured in an accident on the Sinamalé Bridge Highway.

Three motorcycles were involved in the accident on Bridge Highway that injured five individuals.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the case of three motorcycles colliding on the lane traveling from Malé to Hulhumalé on the bridge highway was reported to the police institution at around 12:11am on Monday.

The police institution revealed that the accident occurred when one motorcycle attempted to overtake, colliding with another, before the third motorcycle crashed into the pile-up from behind.

Of the five people injured in the accident, four were treated and released from the hospital in the early hours of Monday. The other person is currently receiving treatment at Treetop Hospital. The hospital has informed the police that the person's condition is not serious.

The motorcycle that was being operated in violation of regulations that caused the accident has been towed.

Further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.
