The Green Tax collected in the Maldives will double starting from January 2025.

Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has announced significant changes to Green Tax rates, which will come into effect from 1 January 2025.

In accordance with the 14th amendment to the Maldives Tourism Act, these new rates will apply to resorts, guesthouses, and vessels used for tourism.

With the change in law, Green Tax will double in many places.

Resorts, integrated tourist resorts, resort hotels, tourist guesthouses with more than 50 rooms, and vessels are now set to charge USD 12 per guest per night. Guesthouses on inhabited islands with 50 or fewer rooms will charge USD six per guest per night.
