Maldives hosts regional conference for fishing sector in Indian Ocean

Maldives has hosted a ministerial-level conference concerning fishing in the Indian Ocean, where several countries in the region participated.
It was held on Thursday at the Bandos Island Resort.
The conference was held to determine outlooks of different countries on a convention proposed on May 21st by the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission.
Representatives – ministers and leaders of the fisheries sector – from South Africa, Seychelles, Pakistan, Iran, Indonesia, Somalia, Mozambique, Comoros, Mauritius, and Tanzania had participated in the conference.
The Fisheries Ministry said that said countries have expressed hope that their efforts and call for action against destructive fishing practices will benefit the region.
