Both the Maldivian men's and women's teams have secured spots in the semifinals of the team event at the sixth Carrom World Championship.
The Maldivian national men's team competing in the Carrom World Championship currently underway in California, U.S., consists of Hassan Nazim, Ibrahim Hujan Ali, Ismail Azmeen, and Mohamed Munthasir.
The Maldivian national women's team includes Aminath Vidhaadh, Aishath Naufa, Aishath Fainaaz, and Fathimath Rayana.
Both Maldivian teams have secured spots in the semifinals of the tournament's team event and both teams will face Sri Lanka in the semi-finals.
The women's team will face Sri Lanka in the team event semifinal on Wednesday night.
The men's team will face Sri Lanka in the team event semifinal on Thursday.
Prior to the World Championship, the Maldivian carrom team conducted training sessions.
Further, Maldives achieved good results in the Asian Carrom Championship held in the island nation this year.
In the doubles event, Maldivian players Ismail Azmeen and Hassan Nazim won silver.
In addition to this, the women's team won bronze at the team event.
Maldivian players also competed in the quarterfinals of the singles event in the tournament.
