The service of printing Maldivian National Identity Cards has been launched in Kudahuvadhoo island of Dhaalu atoll.
The Department of National Registration launched the service in Kudahuvadhoo island on Monday.
This marks the second location the service has been launched outside of the capital, Malé City.
Taking to social media platform ‘X’, the Department of National Registration expressed gratitude to the atoll members and atoll council president, Ahmed Shafiu for the support in making this possible.
The service is being provided at the Department of National Registration office in Velaanaage building as well as Villingili island of Gaaf Alif atoll, presently.
The ID card printing service in Kudahuvadhoo was launched with the assistance of the Dhaalu Atoll Council.
The service was inaugurated by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan as well as the Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar.
Providing ID card services from every inhabited atoll or the atoll capital in the Maldives, is a pledge of the government.
Although providing ID card services requires substantial investment, the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology is actively working to roll out the service as the necessary equipment becomes available.
