President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has expressed interest in visiting Sri Lanka in the near future.
Sri Lankan media outlets have reported that the Maldivian president wishes to undertake an official visit to Sri Lanka, in a bid to boost the long-standing friendship between the two countries.
The Maldivian president’s interest in making an official visit to Sri Lanka was expressed during a meeting between the Secretary to the President of Sri Lanka, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, and the High Commissioner of Maldives to Sri Lanka Masood Imad at the Presidential Secretariat.
During the meeting, the High Commissioner announced that the Maldivian president intends to visit Sri Lanka soon.
Reports indicate that several important areas of mutual interest to both countries were discussed during the meeting held on Wednesday.
Discussions are to have revolved around developing tourism, health, and education sectors between the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
