Seven individuals have been arrested in a spa raid.

A place operating as a spa in Hulhumalé was searched by authorities under a court order.

The raid stemmed from an intel report received by the Maldives Police Service (MPS) about allegations of a prostitution ring operating at the establishment.

As part of the raid, three Maldivian women, one Maldivian man and three women hailing from Thailand were taken into police custody.

Among the arrested Maldivians include Aishath Abdul Razzaq, 55, Fathimath Siuna, 42, Shiuna Hussain, 36 and Mohamed Shafiu, 49.

The remaining are 29-year-old Thidarath Chunkong, 32-year-old Wilailak Thunmuangdon and 36-year-old Pawina Bunnak.

Upon being presented to the Hulhumalé Magistrate Court for their remand hearing, the three foreigners were remanded for a 10-day period.

The court ordered for the three Maldivian women to be jailed for a seven-day period and the Maldivian man to be remanded for five days.

Further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.
