The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has revealed that more than 1,000 complaints have been received so far after opening the opportunity to submit complaints regarding the list of recipients for the 4,000 newly constructed flats in the second phase of Hulhumalé.

While the government announced the list of people who meet the criteria and those who do not meet the criteria for receiving flats on 27 February 2025, the opportunity to submit complaints regarding the flat list through the ‘Gedhoruveriyaa Portal’ was opened on Saturday.

After reviewing the list of people determined to receive 4,000 flats under the ‘Gedhoruveriyaa’ scheme by former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration, the current administration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced the list of eligible people in February this year.

The housing ministry has opened the opportunity to submit complaints for the flat list until the end of this month.

The housing ministry revealed that if it's a complaint related to someone on the flat list, it can be submitted to [email protected] or by letter to the ministry. The ministry also said that during the complaint submission period, further information on how to proceed with submitting complaints can be obtained by reaching out through 4004911 and 4004910.

The housing ministry said they have decided to proceed without delay with the work needed to hand over the flats determined to be given in the currently publicized flat list.

The ministry also highlighted that for those included in the list who do not meet the criteria and those who have not received the points set for receiving a flat, the flats previously allocated to them will not be given to any other party until the complaints submitted by the end of this month are reviewed and decided upon.

Out of the 4,000 flats built under the ‘Gedhoruveriyaa’ scheme, 1,820 people meet the criteria and will receive flats. This includes 1,423 people who meet the criteria and received 75 points out of 3,721 people on the three-bedroom list, and 397 people who meet the criteria and received 73 points out of 1,218 people on the two-bedroom list.

The housing ministry said that the current administration began reviewing the list of flat recipients published by the former administration due to many people expressing concerns about numerous issues with that list.
