Gov’t proposes to appoint Habeeb as Chairman of BML

Principal Secretary to the President on Cabinet Affairs, Ali Habeeb
The government has proposed to appoint Principal Secretary to the President on Cabinet Affairs, Ahmed Ali Habeeb as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bank of Maldives (BML).
Habeeb has been serving at the President’s Office as the Principal Secretary to the President on Cabinet Affairs since 17 November 2023.
Prior to assuming the position at the President’s Office, Habeeb served as the General Manager of Apollo Holdings Private Limited from 15 January 2006 to 16 November 2023.
He also served as a Board Director of the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) from April 2012 to February 2019.
Habeeb is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants in the United Kingdom.
According to the country’s national bank, as the Extraordinary General Meeting slated for 21 September 2024 will be held online, the government has proposed to appoint Habeeb, hailing from Hithadhoo district of southernmost Addu City to the bank's board on behalf of the government.
