The Maldives National Athletics team that competed in the South Asian Junior Athletics Championship held in India and won bronze medals has returned home.

The bronze medals were won in the 4x100 meter relay event at the Fourth Asian Junior Athletics Championship held in Chennai, India.

Both the men's and women's teams from the Maldives won bronze medals.

The athletes in the women's team that won the bronze medals include Ahna Nizar, Ziva Moosa Shafeeu, Mariyam Ruya Ali and Hawwa Muzna Faiz.

The team completed the race in 48.04 seconds.

India won first place in this event, with Sri Lanka trailing close, at second.

The athletes in the men’s team that won bronze medals include Ibrahim Naahil Nizar, Hussain Zeek Suad, Zuis Mohamed Suad and Mohamed Minhal Shaamin.

The team completed the race in 41.98 seconds.

Sri Lanka won first place in this event and India came second.

Upon return with their bronze medals, the athletes were given a warm welcome at Velana International Airport (VIA) by the Commissioner of Sports Mohamed Tholaal.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation and Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) were also present to welcome the teams.
