Expat arrested for stealing over MVR 400,000 from under motorcycle seat

A foreigner has been arrested for theft.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that a man was arrested for stealing more than MVR 400,000 in cash, from under the seat of a motorcycle.
Arrested was 45-year-old Jahangir Alam, native to Bangladesh.
The arrest was made under a court order.
The court order revealed that MPS has submitted sufficient evidence against him.
Some of the evidence submitted by authorities includes the victim’s statement, CCTV footage and snapshots relevant to the case.
Upon being presented to the Criminal Court for his remand hearing, the expatriate has been remanded for a period of 15 days.
Further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.
