Woman crying for help rescued in Hiyaa flat, two arrested

A woman heard crying inside an apartment in one of the Hiyaa towers, has been rescued and two individuals have been arrested.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the incident occurred in the early hours of Friday.
Officers arrived at the scene after receiving reports of a woman crying for help and sobbing inside a Hiyaa apartment.
When instructed to open the door to the apartment, a man had opened the door, claimed nothing was going on and locked the door. However, as the woman continued to scream for help, officers began repeatedly demanding for the door to be opened. When the suspects failed to pay heed to police instructions, officers forcibly entered the apartment and rescued the woman.
Arrested in connection with the case are Ahmed Uvais, 20 and Mohamed Mumeeth, 39.
Further investigations are currently underway.
