A woman who lured a man, kidnapped him and robbed him of MVR 200,000 and other valuables, has been arrested and remanded.
The case was reported in the capital, Malé City.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that at around 09:30pm on August 26, a man was stopped near Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), invited to a room and taken into a guesthouse in Maafannu-district of the capital.
After luring him into the guesthouse, the woman held him hostage with the assistance of another man.
They proceeded to steal his mobile phone, cash card and stole MVR 53,000 from his account.
A 27-year-old Maldivian woman was arrested in connection with the case.
Upon being presented to the court for her remand hearing, the woman has been remanded for a 15-day period.
Further investigations are currently underway in connection with the case.
