Mohamed Hussain Shareef has presented his credentials as the new Ambassador of Maldives to the United Arab Emirates.
The new Maldivian ambassador to UAE presented his Letter of Credence to President of UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The ceremony to present credentials was held at the Presidential Palace of UAE Qasr Al Watan.
Ambassador Shareef will serve as the sixth ambassador of Maldives to UAE.
During the ceremony, the new ambassador hoisted the Maldivian flag and observed a UAE military guard.
Welcoming the new ambassador, the UAE President congratulated Shareef on the commencement of his ambassadorial term and wished him success in carrying out his responsibilities.
Shedding light on the long-standing bilateral relations between the two countries, the UAE President expressed firm commitment to work with the new Maldivian ambassador.
He also promised to support the development vision of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Speaking at the meeting, the Maldivian ambassador extended gratitude and conveyed greetings and sincere good wishes from the Maldivian leader and people, to the president and people of UAE.
Ambassador Shareef expressed his commitment to further enhance the existing bilateral relations and close cooperation between Maldives and UAE.
Taking to social media platform ‘X’ following the credentials ceremony, Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer expressed confidence that the strong ties of friendship and cooperation that exist between Maldives and UAE will continue to grow from strength to strength during the new ambassador’s tenure.
Diplomatic relations were established between the Maldives and UAE on 15 March 1978.
