The government of India looks forward for closer cooperation with the government of Maldives, to strengthen bilateral ties, says Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The neighboring country’s PM said this in a post on social media platform ‘X’, in response to the congratulatory message posted by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu late Tuesday.

Thanking President Muizzu, PM Modi highlighted that Maldives is a valued partner of India alongside being a neighbor in the Indian Ocean Region.

In a separate post thanking former Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid, PM Modi stated that the desire to observe the relationship between both countries achieving new heights, is mutual.

Further, replying to a post by Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef, PM Modi assured that India would continue to work together to deepen bilateral partnership.

Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the BJP led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured a victory in the Indian General Elections of 2024.
