A case of a minor falling victim to sexual assault, has surfaced.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the case surfaced from an island in the north of Maldives comprising of Noonu, Raa, Baa and Lhaviyani atolls.

The case was filed at the police institution on May 19.

No arrests have been made in connection with the case so far.

However, further investigations are currently underway.

Cases of child sexual abuse have been making the spotlight and the police have also been investigating cases of children being "groomed" and sexually assaulted.
