A Maldivian man has died while rescuing a drowning tourist.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the Maldivian man, employed at the resort, died while attempting to save a tourist who was drowning.
The incident is to have occurred in Centara Grand Resort & Spa Maldives nestled in Alif Dhaal atoll.
Authorities received reports of the local man drowning and being rushed to the health center for treatment, at around 11:05am on Thursday.
He was taken to the health center in Dhangethi island.
MPS cited the health center having revealed that he was already dead when he was brought in.
Deceased was a 39-year-old Maldivian man.
The police institution revealed that the tourist is safe and stable.
MPS is currently looking into the incident and conducting the required probes.
