A Maldivian man has been arrested and remanded in connection with a case of assault.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the fight broke out between a Maldivian and an expatriate, inside a hotel in Hulhumalé.

The assault was reported to police at around 12:26am on Tuesday.

Arrested in connection with the case was a 33-year-old Maldivian man.

Upon being presented to the Hulhumalé Magistrate Court for his remand hearing, the man was remanded for a period of seven days.

Further investigations are currently underway.
