A summons notice has been publicized for an individual in connection with an ongoing probe.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the case is being investigated by the Police Serious and Organized Crime Department.
The summons was publicized as the authority’s efforts to locate the suspect and handover his summons notice have been to no avail so far, and as the MPS has been unable to track him down.
The summons was issued in accordance with section 27 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to be followed by the police while investigating criminal cases.
The man being located, is accused of threatening someone with a knife, holding them against their will, assaulting, threatening, making them strip their clothes, recording a video, snatching their Bank of Maldives (BML) cash card, getting the pin code from them before robbing the person.
Being located is Shafeeq Ibrahim, 34 and native to Hithadhoo district of southernmost Addu City.
Police revealed that the suspect is being summoned for questioning regarding the case.
The man is to present himself to the Sergeant Adam Haleem Crime Investigation Building or the police station closest to him at 2pm on May 20.
