Man remanded over case of kidnapping, robbery

A man has been remanded over a case of kidnapping and robbery.
The Criminal Court revealed that the man, implicated in a case of kidnapping and theft, was remanded for a period of 15 days.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) arrested a 26-year-old Maldivian man in connection with the case.
The suspect is accused of robbery, threatening with a dangerous weapon, assault and holding someone against their will.
His 15-day remand will expire on 17 April 2024.
The Criminal Court’s order states that he is accused of taking someone to a house, holding them against their will and assaulting the individual, as well as committing other crimes with the involvement of a few others.
Authorities have also submitted evidence to prove the allegations against the suspect.
