The appointment of Mohamed Thoha as a new Ambassador of the Maldives to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has been forwarded to the People’s Majlis for approval.
The decision to refer the matter to the standing committee on foreign affairs for review and approval, was reached by the president on Monday.
This was done in accordance with Article 115(d) of the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives and Section 14 of the Foreign Service Act.
A letter President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu addressed to the parliament, requested parliamentarians to notify him on their views on the appointment of Mohamed Thoha, native to Holhudhoo island of Noonu atoll, as the Ambassador of Maldives to Saudi Arabia.
His name was forwarded on 26 March 2024.
The letter was read out at the People’s Majlis sitting on Monday.
The matter has since been referred to the parliament’s standing committee on foreign relations.
