Council members of Hinnavaru island in Lhaviyani atoll have proposed changes to be brought to the harbor development project.
This was done during a meeting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held with the island’s council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) members on Saturday.
The meeting saw discussions revolving around the most important development needs and other concerns of the island community including issues with the electricity service, the necessity of expediting electricity, water, and sanitation network connections to the newly reclaimed area as well as the swift completion of the project to construct 50 rowhouses and 50 flats on the island.
Further, councilors noted the urgency of fast-tracking projects for the council secretariat building, establishing a bank outpost alongside the existing ATM service, and enhancing other socioeconomic development initiatives.
Listening to these concerns, the president assured the members that his administration would address the issues raised by the council and seek solutions to tackle them, through consultations with relevant authorities.
Members of the president’s Cabinet of Ministers accompanying him on the tour shared latest updates linked to the issues raised, at the meeting.
