Council members of Raiymandhoo island of Meemu atoll have stressed the urgency for the provision of a proper water and sanitation infrastructure on the island.
This was done during a meeting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held with the island’s council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) members on Wednesday.
Discussions at the meeting revolved around the critical development needs of the island community.
Some of the topics of discussion included concerns regarding the schooling system as well as challenges island residents face in traveling to and from the island.
The councilors went on to request the administration to bring an additional island under their jurisdiction.
Further, councilors urged the government to fast-track the development of the Fenaka Corporation office building as well as the repair work of the island’s ambulance.
Listening to these concerns, the president assured the members that his administration would address the issues raised by the council and seek solutions to tackle them, through consultations with relevant authorities.
