President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has been briefed on the development needs of Muli island of Meemu atoll.
This was done during a meeting he held with the island’s council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) members on Wednesday.
The meeting saw councilors sharing concerns regarding insufficient electricity and sewage services on the island as well as potential enhancements for the education, health, and tourism sectors.
They went on to request the administration to implement a project o develop housing units on the island and suggestion to include Boahuraa island under their jurisdiction.
Councilors also sought assistance from the government to leverage the island's resources.
In addition to this, they expressed interest to see the transformation of Muli island into an urban center, which would in turn generate more income opportunities for island residents.
