Discussions have been held on enhancing defence cooperation between the governments of Maldives and China.

The discussions were held during a courtesy call Deputy Director of the Office for International Military Cooperation of the People's Republic of China Major General Zhang Baoqun paid on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Tuesday.

The meeting held at the President’s Office saw the Maldivian leader expressing sincere gratitude to the government of China for the continued support and assistance it has extended to the Maldives.

They also engaged in inclusive discussions on strategic partnerships between the two countries.

Before ending the courtesy call, they expressed mutual enthusiasm for future collaborations and partnerships.
