The government of China has donated 12 green ambulances to the government of Maldives.

The Embassy of China in the Maldives handed the ambulances over to the Ministry of Health, during a ceremony that took place at Roashanee Building on Sunday.

First Lady Sajida Mohamed graced the ceremony held to handover twelve green ambulances.

The ceremony saw the signing of the handover certificate, between the Chinese embassy and the health ministry. The ambulances were handed over by Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Wang Lixin, to the Minister of State for Health Khadheeja Abdul Samad Abdulla.

The ambulances will enhance the provision of medical emergency services to patients during emergencies, disasters, and accidents across outlying islands.

Further, the ambulances will make delivery of medical treatment more efficient across the small islands, which has been a challenge for larger paramedic ambulances to operate in.
