Ungoofaaru island of Raa atoll is included among the seven specific regions to be developed as urban centers by the administration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

This was revealed by the president while speaking to residents of Ungoofaaru island of Raa atoll as part of his ongoing brief tour of islands in Baa and Raa atolls.

Shedding light that the development of seven specific regions as urban centers would immensely benefit several communities across the island nation, the president identified Ungoofaaru among these seven urban centers scheduled for development.

Taking the podium at the event the president detailed his plans to establish seven urban centers as part of its mid-term and long-term development goals.

He said that these development goals involve integrated development zones intended for the northernmost and southernmost regions, each comprising four atolls, alongside the seven specialized urban centers.

Further, he shed light on the development requests by the island council and expressed commitment to launch efforts to permanently resolve housing issues, promote economic growth and introduce borrower-friendly loan schemes.

Shedding light on efforts to provide social housing, the president acknowledged the community's needs for an improved sports sector, urban and social development, and other important areas.

Ungoofaaru was the third destination of the president’s ongoing tour of several islands in Raa and Baa atolls.
