Council members of Alifushi island of Raa atoll have urged the administration to resolve the housing crisis facing the island community.
This was done during a meeting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held with the island’s council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) members on Saturday.
Speaking at the meeting, Alifushi councilors noted that resolving the housing crisis facing the island community is a crucial step for the island’s progress.
Further, they shed light on several issues facing the island community including the need for a harbor expansion project, expanding land for industrial purposes, the need to establish a proper waste management system, and the need to ensure a reliable source for electricity supply.
Discussions also revolved around needs of the island’s health sector and the requirement for a conducive work environment for WDC members.
Listening to these concerns, the president assured the members that his administration would address the issues raised by the council and seek solutions to tackle them, through consultations with relevant authorities.
