A large stash of alcohol in police custody which was confiscated during multiple operations, has been destroyed in Kudahuvadhoo island of Dhaal atoll.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the alcohol was destroyed under the supervision of the relevant police committee and under the set legal procedure for it.
The alcohol was destroyed inside the Kudahuvadhoo Police Station premises.
Destroyed in Kudahuvadhoo were 362 bottles of alcohol and 514 cans of beer.
MPS revealed that the destroyed alcohol and beers were handed over to them by the Aviation Security Command officials at Dhaalu Airport.
Aviation Security Command officers confiscated the bottles of alcohol and cans of beer from tourists that arrived at the airport for departure, from 1 October 2023 to January 2024.
