The channel and maintenance dredging project in Baarah island of Haa Alif atoll has neared completion.
This was revealed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Sunday.
As such, providing the latest updates of the Baarah channel and maintenance dredging project via Twitter, the company revealed that the project has reached 84 percent progress overall.
The full shipment of geo bags required for the project were recently delivered to the project site.
Further, the company has completed the channel dredging and maintenance dredging components.
Currently ongoing at the project site is the geo bag revetment installation work, with 58 percent progress.
Under the scope of the project, the company is required to conduct channel dredging operations in an area measuring 79,100 cubic meters and maintenance dredging operations in an area measuring 8,600 cubic meters.
MTCC will also be constructing a 460-meter geobag revetment and installing navigational lights as part of the project.
The Baarah channel and maintenance dredging project is valued at MVR 14.57 million.
The project was contracted to MTCC by the former administration’s Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure during April 2021.
