Council members of Filladhoo island in Haa Alif atoll, have urged the government to develop the island’s harbor.
This was done during a meeting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held with members of the island’s council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) on Sunday.
The meeting saw councilors highlighting that their needs and concerns have been shared with relevant ministries.
They went on to stress the urgency of resolving these issues.
Briefing the president on the concerns of the island community, the councilors shed light on the significance of providing an effective waste management system on the island.
The meeting also saw the island’s WDC members shedding light on the need to facilitate opportunities for women in different sectors.
President Muizzu assured the councilors that he would seek a way forward to tackle the issues at hand, through consultations with relevant authorities.
The meeting also saw members of the president’s Cabinet of Ministers sharing updates of development efforts linked to the issues raised at the meeting.
