A local man has been arrested for carrying out indecent acts in public.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the man was arrested for allegedly violating social norms, on the back of a pick-up truck driving on the roads of capital Malé City.
Arrested in connection with the case was a 28-year-old Maldivian man.
A video has been circulating on social media platforms since Wednesday, showing a man carrying out obscene acts that violate social norms. The man is seen going as far as pulling his pants down. This has taken social media by storm, with concerned citizens calling for action, especially as this was done in public at a time many people of different age groups were around, especially children.
The video also shows the pick-up’s registration number, and that the vehicle belongs to a company.
Further details regarding the case are yet to be revealed by the authorities.
