Police posts have been unveiled across five more islands.

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) took to social media platform ‘X’ to reveal the details of the newly inaugurated police posts earlier this week.

As such, police posts were unveiled on Kondey island of Gaaf Alif atoll on Thursday, Maalhendhoo and Miladhoo islands of Noonu atoll on February 19 and Hithaadhoo and Kudarikilu islands of Baa atoll on February 20.

Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau unveiled all five posts, during official trips made to Gaaf Alif, Noonu and Baa atolls this week.

The inauguration ceremonies were attended by high level officials from the police institution and dignitaries from government institutions.

CP Shujau was joined by Hithaadhoo Council President Abdul Azeez Mohamed to inaugurate the Hithaadhoo Police Post.

He was joined by Kudarikilu Council’s President Ahmed Afrah to open the police post in the island.

The ceremonies in Hithaadhoo and Kudarikilu were joined by Deputy Commissioner of Police Faruhad Fikuree, North Police Commander Assistant Commissioner of Police Moosa Ali, Baa Atoll Commander Chief Inspector of Police Afra Adam, commissioned police officers, other police officers, Hithaadhoo councilors, Women’s Development Committee (WDC) members and employees of other institutions on the island.

MPS revealed that the establishment of police posts across these five islands, reinforces their commitment to improve community safety and to encourage law enforcement collaboration.

The police institution further noted that they were an essential addition to the commitment of MPS towards maintaining safety across communities nationwide.

As part of efforts to serve the people of the island closely in a decentralized manner, the police services were inaugurated in these islands in collaboration with the island communities.

The police posts are being established with the purpose of providing police services closer to the island communities.
