The harbor development project initiated in Lhohi island of Noonu atoll, is well underway.
This was revealed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Tuesday.
As such, taking to social media platform ‘X’ to provide the latest updates of the Lhohi harbor development project to the public, MTCC revealed that they recently delivered the first shipment of concrete blocks required for the quay wall construction component of the project.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to conduct maintenance dredging operations in an area spanning 66,701 cubic meters and channel dredging operations in a 2,205-cubic meter area.
The project also entails the construction of a 366-meter quay wall, a breakwater measuring 321 meters and a revetment measuring 95 meters.
The company will also be constructing a 50-meter groyne and a ramp measuring 11 meters by 11 meters.
Further, a harbor pavement measuring 1,720 square meters, harbor lights, navigational lights and mooring buoys will be installed as part of the project.
The Lhohi harbor development project is valued at MVR 64.87 million. It was contracted by the previous administration’s Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure to be completed within 640 days.
MTCC mobilized the project site on 07 August 2023.
