Councilors of Omadhoo island in Thaa atoll have sought support from the government to boost the island’s revenue.
This was done during a meeting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held with members of Omadhoo council and the Women's Development Committee (WDC) on Thursday.
The meeting was held as part of the president’s brief three-day tour of some islands of Thaa atoll, which he began on Tuesday and concluded on Thursday.
During the meeting held at the Fenaka Corporation office in Omadhoo island, the councilors expressed appreciation for the swift attention the president has given to the concerns of residents.
The president was briefed on the needs of the island community, linked to the development of the island.
Councilors also shared the challenges the island community faces due to space limitations at the school.
In this regard they touched upon the requirements to enhance the quality of services at the island school.
Omadhoo councilors requested the government to provide facilities for women's sports.
They also urged the administration to ensure ongoing projects proceed without interruption.
The meeting also saw WDC members of the island sharing their concerns and needs, particularly over the challenges faced in implementing activities on the island, due to financial constraints.
Listening to these concerns, the president pledged to work to find agreeable solutions for the issues raised in consultation with relevant ministries.
