A large stash of alcohol in police custody which was confiscated during multiple operations, has been destroyed in Villingili island of Gaaf Alif atoll and Kudahuvadhoo island of Dhaalu atoll.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that the alcohol was destroyed under the supervision of the relevant police committee and under the set legal procedure for it.
The alcohol was destroyed on December 14.
Destroyed in Villingili island were 100 bottles of alcohol and 40 cans of alcohol.
MPS revealed that the destroyed alcohol was handed over to them by aviation security officials at the Kooddoo Airport.
Airport security confiscated the alcohol from tourists that arrived at the airport for departure, between November 1 – December 2.
Further, 58 bottles of alcohol and 166 cans of alcohol were destroyed by the Kudahuvadhoo Police Station.
These were confiscated by aviation security officials at the Dhaalu Airport.
