Discussions has been held on the importance of strengthening the friendship between China and the Maldives.
These discussions were held during the courtesy call of the Special Envoy of the Chinese President, State Councilor of the People's Republic of China, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, on Saturday.
The meeting was held at the President's Office.
During the meeting, State Councilor Shen Yiqin congratulated President Muizzu on his successful inauguration and expressed her confidence that relations between the two countries would further strengthen during this presidential term. She also conveyed greetings and well wishes from the President of China, Xi Jinping.
The meeting also saw President Muizzu expressing gratitude to the Government of China for its contributions to the socio-economic development of the Maldives over the years. The President stated that the start of his administration marks a new chapter in the shared historic friendship between the two countries.
The President further expressed his confidence in continued collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including regional cooperation, economic cooperation and people-to-people contact.
Concluding the call, President Dr. Muizzu reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the relationship between Maldives and China and achieving shared goals.
