Drugs seized by the Maldives Customs Service
The Maldives Customs Service has seized drugs being smuggled into the Maldives via courier and post.
The drugs were seized by customs officials who conducted further scans on packages brought to the Maldives by courier and post during September and October this year, after findings suspicious substances inside them.
The drugs weighing 2.389 kilograms, were seized in five different cases.
The substances discovered in four of the five cases tested positive for synthetic cathinone, a narcotic substance, during an initial analysis by customs officers.
Substances discovered in the remaining case tested positive for mephedrone, a narcotic substance, during the initial stage of investigation.
The confiscated drugs have since been handed over to the Maldives Police Service (MPS) for further investigation.
