Maldives is to host another mass rally in solidarity with Palestinians.

Speaking on RaajjeTV’s ‘Fala Surukhee’ programme on Wednesday evening, General Secretary of the International Aid Campaign (IAC) Ibrahim Shaz revealed that they were preparing to host a mass rally in Maldives capital, Malé City on Friday in connection with the inhumane attacks by Israel on Gaza.

Shaz revealed that the rally will be organized by the group of youth who led the mass pro-Palestine rally held back in 2014.

Friday’s rally will start from Rasfannu area in Maafannu district and end at the Artificial Beach region in Henveiru district of the capital city.

In addition to this, alongside the rally, fund-raising events will also be held across different regions of Malé and Hulhumalé on Friday.

Stressing that Gaza not only needs funds as aid right now, Shaz highlighted that we also need to pressure the international community to raise their voices for the rights of Palestinians.

Shaz urged the public to join the event and raise voice against Israel’s oppression and stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine.

Maldives held a rally in solidarity with Palestine on the evening of October 13 as well.

The rally, titled “Dhivehinge Bodu Evvun” which translates as “Big Gathering of Maldivians” was held in the Artificial Beach region, as part of the “Maldives with Palestine” national campaign initiated by Isra Association and the International Aid Campaign (AIC), in response to the heinous attacks by Israel on Gaza.

A large crowd of Maldivians including Cabinet Ministers, high ranking officials of government and state institutions as well as the public gathered in the Maldives capital to show their solidarity with the people of Palestine.

Several civic groups participated in the event including Cake Donors, IAC, Isra Organization, Mahaldheeb Foundation, Jamiyyathul Akhawaadh, Maldives Turkiyé Foundation and ‘Heyo Bingaa’.

Evening rallies titled “Maldivians with Palestine” were also held across several islands of outlying atolls, outside of the capital region.

Israeli armed forces have been carrying out unprovoked air strikes across Gaza since October 7. Israel declared war on Palestine after Hamas launched a mass military operation into the territory of Israel on October 7 in response to Israeli violation of the Al Aqsa Mosque. Attacks on Palestinians by Israeli settlers have since spiked and the death toll has exceeded the 3,000-mark as of Wednesday.
