Maldives Customs Service has seized drugs from a Pakistani citizen.

According to customs, the drugs were seized after officers confiscated the luggage of a 20-year-old Pakistani female passenger who arrived in the Maldives on October 7, after suspicions that she was in possession of drugs.

During the search of her luggage, officers found a pack filled with suspected narcotics.

The narcotic substances found inside the package tested positive for Heroin during the initial analysis.

The drugs confiscated by the authorities in connection with the case weighed a total of 4.720 kilograms and had a street value of about MVR 5.8 million.

The confiscated drugs and Pakistani traveler have since been handed over to the custody of the Maldives Police Service (MPS).
