The Maldivian Government has spent MVR 6.5 billion on Public Sector Investment Projects (PSIP), by 03 August 2023.
According to the statistics publicized by the Ministry of Finance, the highest expenditure was made on projects related to the transport sector. As such, the state has so far spent MVR 2.1 billion on this sector; with MVR 869.1 million spent on airport development projects, MVR 752 million spent on harbor development projects during this time frame and MVR 544.8 million was spent on bridge development projects.
Additionally, MVR 1.6 billion has been spent on road development and land reclamation projects. As such, the state has so far spent MVR 775.7 million on land reclamation projects and MVR 804.5 million on road development projects.
Ministry's statistics show that MVR 548.2 million has been spent on housing and infrastructure projects.
Additionally, MVR 77.3 million has been spent on general administration projects.
The government has spent MVR 913.7 million on water and sewerage development projects. This includes MVR 723.4 million on installation of water and sewerage systems in islands, MVR 126.1 million spent on water systems and MVR 64.2 million spent on sewerage system installation.
Ministry's statistics goes on to reveal that MVR 289.7 million has been spent on the education sector.
While MVR 181.2 million has been spent on coastal protection projects, MVR 80. million was spent on waste management projects.
Statistics also shows that MVR 243.6 million was spent on the social and religious services. As such, MVR 49.7 million has been spent on mosques.
Furthermore, MVR 181.9 million was spent on health sector development projects.
The Maldivian Government's expenditure currently sits at MVR 27.9 billion according to the Finance Ministry statistics.
