The Maldives and Egypt have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in the Field of Diplomatic Training between the Foreign Service Institute, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives and the Institute for Diplomatic Studies, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The MOU was signed in the margins of the Second Round of Maldives-Egypt Bilateral Political Consultations, at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, on Tuesday.
The MoU was signed by Ahmed Khaleel, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Maldives on behalf of the Government of Maldives, and Ayman Kamel, Assistant Minister for Asian Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, on behalf of the Government of Egypt.
The MoU aims to foster collaboration and exchange of expertise between the two institutes, and promote the development of diplomatic skills and knowledge. The agreement signifies an important step forward in strengthening and enhancing diplomatic capacity-building efforts between the Maldives and Egypt.
Assistant Minister Ambassador Ayman Kamel is on an official visit to the Maldives, to attend the Second Round of Bilateral Political Consultations between the Maldives and Egypt.
On Monday, the Egyptian Assistant Minister paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid.
The meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, the Maldivian Minister, reaffirmed the strong commitment of the Government of Maldives to further enhance bilateral cooperation and increase collaboration at the international fora on matters of mutual interest.
Minister Shahid conveyed appreciation to the leadership and the Government of Egypt for the continuous assistance and opportunities granted to the Maldives over the years, which stands as a testament to the close relations between the two countries. He also affirmed the commitment of the Maldives to implement the outcomes agreed upon by the two countries during the Political Consultations.
The Egyptian Assistant Minister assured Minister Shahid of unwavering support by the Government of Egypt to the Maldives, to advance shared priorities and interests and to collaborate on strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations.
Ambassador Kamel was accompanied at the meeting by the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Republic of Maldives, Maged Mosleh Nafei.
Minister Shahid was accompanied by Secretary, Bilateral; Dr. Hala Hameed, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Maldives to the Arab Republic of Egypt; Aminath Shabeena, Joint Secretary; Mariyam Reesha and Director Ahmed Fazeel.
