The projects carry the purpose of improving the lives of the island community.

The Rakeedhoo harbor project was contracted to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

Under the scope of the project, MTCC conducted harbor basin dredging operations in an area measuring 5,554 cubic meters.

MTCC also developed a quay wall measuring 164 meters and constructed a pavement measuring 492 square meters.

Further, the Rakeedhoo coastal protection project saw the development of a breakwater measuring 200 meters and a groyne measuring 45 meters.

The Rakeedhoo coastal protection project as well as the harbor development project, are expected to address several concerns facing the island community.

In addition to this, a 40 meter by 20 meter area was developed as a swimming area.

The Maldivian leader departed on the three-day campaign tour on Saturday, as part of his campaign for re-election in the upcoming Presidential election. His tour of Meemu atoll concluded early Monday.

The president’s campaign tour of Meemu and Vaavu atolls, will conclude on July 17.

During these visits the president will be holding discussions with the island communities regarding their needs and the issues they are currently facing.

In Vaavu atoll, President Solih will visit Rakeedhoo, Keyodhoo, Felidhoo, Thinadhoo and Fulidhoo, where again he will be holding discussions with the island communities regarding their needs and requirements.

So far, the Maldivian leader has embarked on campaign tours across Shaviyani and most recently, Kaafu atoll.
