The Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) has predicted scattered showers to prevail over some parts of northern atolls this weekend.

As such, the department revealed that scattered showers are expected to prevail across northern atolls over the next two days.

The weather is expected to clear up in central atolls on Friday, however, scattered rainfall will be experienced in some islands of central atolls on Saturday.

The department revealed that generally fine weather is expected across southern atolls during the weekend.

MMS has predicted isolated showers and a few thunderstorms to prevail across northern atolls in the next few hours.

However, apart from a few rain showers, mainly fine weather is expected across the island nation.

The department revealed that winds will be southeast to southerly in southern atolls and southwest to westerly elsewhere at 5 – 15 miles per hour.

MMS went on to reveal that seas are expected to be slight throughout the country with a wave height of 2 – 4 feet.

Although tides rose to 2.4 feet on Friday morning, they will drop as low as 1.6 feet by nightfall in northern atolls.

Further, MMS revealed that tides will be recorded at 2.5 feet on Saturday morning in northern atolls, falling to 1.5 feet later in the day.

Central atolls will experience tides rising to 2.2 feet on Friday morning, decreasing to 1.5 feet later in the day and 2.4 feet on Saturday afternoon, falling to 1.5 feet at the end of the day.

The department revealed that southern atolls will experience tides rising to 2.5 feet on Friday afternoon, falling to 1.9 feet by sundown and ascending to 2.6 feet by Saturday afternoon. Tides will be as low as 0.8 feet after sundown on Saturday.
