The earthquake in the south Indian Ocean poses no threat to the Maldives, says the Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS).

The 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck off the south Indian Ocean near Malaysia, the epicenter measured 1,748 kilometers from Malé City.

Maldives Meteorological Service revealed that the 6.0 magnitude quake struck at around 12:29pm on Saturday, Maldives time.

The department has revealed that the quake does not pose any threats to the Maldives.
