The permanent list of students who have received the student loans for higher education and training in the Maldives and abroad has been publicized.

The list is publicized on the website of Ministry of Higher Education.

Higher Education Ministry states that they have updated the MyEdu portal as well.

This year, the student loans were offered to a total of 1,275 students. The Higher Education Ministry states that students who received the loans will be notified by email of the next steps.

Higher Education Ministry opened the opportunity for student loans on February 15. The deadline was set at 01:30 pm, March 15. A total of 1,507 students applied for the student loan scheme, this year.

This year, the administration made the decision to offer student loans to all qualified applicants who had submitted applications. The decision to give loans to all those who qualify was announced by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on 31 May. He made the announcement while speaking at the 'Top Achievers' Award 2021-2022' ceremony.

Taking the podium at the event, the Maldivian leader shed light on the important developments made throughout 2023 in the administration's loan allocation process for individuals seeking to pursue higher education programs within the Maldives as well as abroad.

The Solih administration highly prioritizes providing higher education opportunities in its efforts to enhance the development of responsible and productive citizens and youth for the betterment of society.

In his speech the president noted that a total of 1,225 students meet the eligibility criteria for the loans and that his administration aims to offer loans to all of them.

This year's financing scheme allows students to undertake Diploma level courses in the Maldives.

All undergraduate students pursuing degrees through the government's free degree program are encouraged to apply in their respective fields of study and recover any other fees not covered by the plan.

In addition, under the loan aid for higher education and training, top-up loans are also available for students who were not able to complete the program during the given period, owing to factors beyond the control of the students.

Furthermore, PhD-level positions are available to train professors in universities, colleges, and polytechnics.

The loan scheme allows students to travel to any country for education and training. Hence, all loan expenses for studying in the indicated countries will be covered. However, Loans for studying in other countries will be granted at the rate set for the student's preferred country from the list of the countries indicated by the government.

The government has also opened up opportunities for Individuals who have impairments.
