Vice President Faisal Naseem has called on the public to pursue national progress in unity and solidarity.
The Vice President made this remark during an event held at CROSSROADS Maldives on Monday evening to celebrate the 26th anniversary of State Electric Company Limited (STELCO).
As such, taking the podium at the event VP Naseem urged the people to set aside their differences and work together to achieve national progress, despite the limited resources available in the country.
Highlighting that STELCO has been an important utility service provider since its establishment, VP Naseem stated that the company has brought transformative changes to the energy services industry.
He added that STELCO was expanding electricity and sewerage services in 30 islands of the central region.
VP Naseem described professionalism, genuine friendships, and mutual support in the workplace to be essential for the institutions nationwide to deliver essential services to the public, noting that it is crucial to learn and share knowledge with coworkers for the growth of the organization.
The Vice President went on to state that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and his administration places high priority on maintaining sustainable development.
He shed light on the initiatives to improve power plants across outlying islands as an example of this commitment.
Further, VP Naseem shed light on the multiple development initiatives being carried out across different parts of the country as part of the administration's policy of a decentralized administration.
Monday night’s event saw VP Naseem conferring the Outstanding Service Award to STELCO’s Deputy Managing Director, Mohamed Latheef.
Employees who have served the company for the longest period of time were also presented with ‘Long Service Awards’ during the function.
