Bank of Maldives (BML) has opened applications for their Graduate Internship Program.

The country’s national bank opened applications for this year's Graduate Internship Program on Sunday.

Theapplication windowwill be open through 2 July 2023.

The yearlong internship program was initiated for graduates and students from local higher education institutions.

Paving the path for permanent employment within the bank and other financial institutions in Maldives, the program allows students to gain on-the-job experience.

As part of the program, interns will be rotated across several business units, departments and branches to gather experience and develop skills.

Sahar Waheed, the People and Change Director of BML revealed that the program, which is unique to the bank, offers young individuals the opportunity to develop the foundational skills required for a career in the finance industry.

Sahar added that more than 42 interns have successfully completed the program with 70 percent acquiring permanent positions at BML, since the inception of the program in May 2018.

An allowance of MVR 6,000 is promised to interns per month and they will also be entitled to benefits including Ramadan bonus, as part of the program. Other benefits include 10 days of leave for medical and family emergencies and 15 days of paid leave.

The Graduate Internship Program which proceeds for a duration of one year, provides interns with key performance objectives at the beginning of each program year and all interns will be assigned a line manager.

Throughout the program, BML’s Learning and Development Department will conduct trainings for interns, who will graduate upon good performance, attendance and adherence to policies and procedure of BML at the end of the program year.

All Maldivian applicants who are above 18 years of age and are current students or graduates from participating colleges under the programme BML Internship Program, possessing an educational qualification of Diploma or higher will be eligible to enroll.
