The five charging stations for the electric minibuses will be used in Greater Malé public transport. Supported by the government of Japan, MTCC is establishing EV bus charging stations as part of UNDP's climate promise project spanning 120 countries, paving the way for a future where we tackle climate challenges through low emissions and greener development.

The ceremony was joined by Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Aishath Nahula, Ambassador of Japan to Maldives Takeuchi Midori, Resident Representative of UNDP Maldives Enrico Gaveglia, CEO Adam Azim and senior officials of the transport ministry, UNDP Maldives, Embassy of Japan in Maldives, the government of Japan and MTCC.

MTCC revealed that the Sosun route will be operated by EV Buses starting Friday, with the installation of the new EV Bus charging station.

The project comes under the policies and initiatives of both the government and UNDP to bring together strong and effective partners and align climate change mitigation and development.
